I am my own hero!

Ok that does sound arrogant.
I am all by myself today. My sister took the kids and left for the weekend. My last day of work got cancelled because it was not going to be busy there today. So I was at loose ends.
But I did something today I am very proud of. I went to places in Toronto I was not sure how to get to. First place was my employer Staffworks to pick up my first Ontario paycheque. (or do they call them paychecks here?)
Never having driven there on my own I somehow found it. Since I was there I went and found the same hairdresser I had discovered in the spring when I was here. He is a French Canadian and I get to practice my French with him. I have this fear of loosing my French in one week of only speaking in English. With a new hairstyle and now feeling brave I decided to find the Ikea in Toronto. I only had to ask directions twice. I found it! I shopped there! I bought two things that require assembly! I ate the swedish meatballs while I was there.

I battled rush hour traffic on the 401 and I found my way back home!
Then to top it all off I assembled those two Items all by myself!

Now I am feeling a bit sick from those meatballs I suspect... So no hero sandwiches for me.

being brave.

LOL! Hehehehe! Good work lady! Nothing like new hairs to make you feel all-powerful. And huge congraulations on assembling the self-assembly things yourself, no way I could do that on my own :{

Haha. I have my arrogant days too.

Awesome. You should be proud of yourself!
I always feel happy when I assemble IKEA stuff.

Yay Barbara :) I would be proud of myself too. It takes a lot to step outside my comfort zone, and it sounds to me like you are doing a great job of going outside of yours. Yay again! Umm, I'm having a craving for IKEA meatballs now lol

I remember the day that I made a bookcase. It feels so good to have put things together yourself.
If everyone could stop w/ the IKEA talk already!LOL!(I love it and can't buy it!)

I guess you went to the Etobicoke Ikea? I like going there just to browse around, I also like their salmon plate in the upstairs cafeteria - healthy food that I didn't have to cook.

Welcome to Toronto!
How wonderful you volunteered at the Aids conference. I had CBC on all day, every day catching as many moments as I could. Stephen Lewis makes me choke up every time he speaks.

Thank you AC. I was so busy at the conference I did not catch a lot of the speeches. I did get to hear about 5 minutes of Bill Clinton on Tuesdays and what he was saying moved me and gave me chills. Then I had to go back to handling the crowds. I was hired as a supervisor of the volunteers. I can't take volunteer credit. Stephen Lewis is a very moving speaker too. I admire him a lot.
Kees thank you all it takes is being assistant assembler for all those years then one day your ready to do it on your own.
Mellowlee I have been steping outside my comfort zone for three years now...

I can't say I have ever had IKEA meatballs, but I have been hearing a lot about them lately.
