First post

I arrived! Safe and sound and tired and excited and feeling good. I enjoyed the drive much more than I thought I would. I had the birds with me in the front, and 1/3 of my worldly goods in the back.

That's a pic of Gordon and Georgie.

Gordon is blue, Georgie is green.

We stopped as much as we could along the way.

I was smiling and thinking to myself as I drove along that I have never had a ticket, how lucky am I? Then I spotted them. The anonymous van at the side of the road. Radar trap! I slowed down a bit (not that I was speeding or anything). I saw a cop car coming up along the side of me. I was going 110km at the time. Well he pulled in front and stayed there. He set the pace because no one wanted to pass him. So I am still ticket free. Whew! That was the only event along the way of note. Unless you want me name the various road kill I spotted along the way. Umm I can't. They looked like lumps of fur to me.

I have a job interview Thursday. I start another job Friday and I have to go unpack my stuff a bit now. To sum it up, I got to Toronto and I hit the ground running.

I'm glad your pets managed the trip without any problems. Unlike the time that we were driving through Saskatchewan in the dead of winter, and the cat stood on the window controls, causing the back window in front of her to open. I think only the -40 at 120km/hr kept her from leaping out.

Good luck with the interviews and the temp job - how long does the convention last?

Glad your trip went well Barbara! Like Becky, I love the bird picture. I have to bird-sit my brother's friend's bird for a couple days this week, I hope she's not too much trouble.

Yes Wandering I am going through some exciting changes in my life but I am ready.
The budgies sat back and grooved to the music Barbara B. they liked David Bowie best then Muse was a close second. They were ify on my new mix CD. What do they know?
Birds are no trouble Hilary just feed 'em and make sure they have fresh water.
Thank you Becky and my birds thank you too.
Oh Barbara B. I work at the convention from the 11th to the 18th... 19th is my Birthday. My sister will be out of town but my other sister will be here with me.
If that new banking job works out I would start it the 21.

Good to know thatyou had a safe trip to TO, Barbara. Good luck with the interview and the temp job.

The birdies are so cute...

I tend to speed onthe highways. Touch wood and fingers crossed, while I was speeding away, the highway patrol was busy ticketing some other speed demon like me on the opposite side. Phew. But I really shouldn't speed. My sane mind keeps telling me that and the insane one nudges me on to do so...guess the insane one always wins...but I really can't afford a heavy ticket, so I should travel back to sanity land! :)

Nancy Drew I am trying to figure out what you mean by WC comments...
I have only been driving for two years so it's a perfect driving record so far...
The drive took me 7 hours (5.5 hour drive for most) because I stopped at all the rest stops... for the birds you understand.
Thank you all for the good wishes.
By the way Minty, Jian just said he was going to the AIDS conference.
If I get the chance I will say hi for you.

I figured it out Nancy Drew. WC= Wandering Coyote...
Ok I did my interview and I think it went well. :-)
Driving around Toronto is easier than it looks. As a passenger I am usually nervous but as a driver it's all good so far.
Angels look out for me...
