For my Poppies

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

I wanted to start off the remembrance day post with that poem.
I also want to thank all the Canadian Veterans who fought for our Country.
Both my grandfather's in WWI
My Uncles and Aunts in WWII.
All the men and women who have faced the horrors of war.
I pray for peace in your souls
I pray for peace in all of society
Peace to all people and an end to all wars.
Amen

Barbara,
I haven't been here in a while, and I've missed the inspiring and thought-provoking things you have to say in your posts. I am really moved by that poem, In Flanders Fields. I've heard it a million times, but until reading it just now, I've never really heard it. It really spoke to me this time, and I could see all those poppies like little flags waving proudly over the dead as a reminder never to forget those who have given up their lives that we might live ours.

Thanks to you for posting it, and keep up the good work here. I know it takes time and effort. I for one appreciate it.
Love,
Ellee

Thank you Ellee, I thought you were on vacation this week from blogging.
I have to say my own blog has not had much good content as of late. I am working on fixing it now.
Thank you for including me in a few episodes of your serial. I am still cracking up about the engagement to George. I always enjoy your posts.
I love this poem too and felt compelled to mark today in this way.
