I want to explore music but...

I want to expand my musical horizons. I will always look to the Bad Tempered Zombie to see what she recommends. I consult with her before I make a mixed CD. By the way, all my music is legal , 'cause I have this 'play by the rules' thing I can't shake.
I also went to see what some other people I trust have to say about where those new musical horizons can be found. Jian Ghomeshi of The Hour talked about a website called Pandora in his The End series. I was miffed that I could not register on Pandora without a zip code. You can check it out yourself. But I did discover there is a Pandora blog that has lots of music samples. I started a discussion about this subject on www.jian.ca on the message board. All you have to do to join that discussion is register at Jian.ca (no zipcode needed) and click on board. I also have to thank Jian for getting me started on itunes. I won 10 free downloads from The National Playlist. I then started to explore and collect more and more songs from that source. I buy the itunes gift card at Shoppers, get Optium points for it then go online shopping. They don't have everything though, some music shopping you just have to do in person. I recently had $2.36 credit left and my last two songs I downloaded were from Moxy Fruvous. I ain't telling what those two songs were.
:-)

be tuned in

Thanks for the shout, hon. I, in turn, get lots of good musical advice from Eva, Will, Rewriteable Content, John, Ben ...

I still like buying the whole cd. I love the tactile experience of holding it in my trembling hands, admiring the cover art, scouring the liner notes, and, of course, discovering new songs I would not have heard if I had just bught the single.

itunes burned a major whole in my savings this year. I've since stopped buying, i really only use itunes for the podcasts. I agree with Barbara, nothing beats buying a whole cd...I just wish that they go down in price! Good luck on your new music search :)

See that's why I ask you... because you do the research listening time for me. Not that I always agree. We may all be connected, but we sure don't all have the same connections to music. I guess is what makes the music industry go round.

Thank you allison. I am confused (thats not hard) are you making podcasts or downloading them?

you can download podcasts, one the best features of itunes. go into the 'music store' and click on podcasts, and wander those the HUGE selection, most of them are free to subscribe too. i love listening to CBC Radio 3. sadly, i need some more technology to make my own podcasts :)
